My figures are a very intuitive process - these characters have been developing and accumulating in my sketchbooks and in my private drawing practice for at least a few years now.  They are ways for me to visualize, realize, and personify moments in time, emotions, experiences, beliefs, ideas, ect.  The stylization comes from part intuitive making and part resistance to the body as a constricting and concrete form.  These figures are not bodies, not in the way we exist as bodies in this world, but as a vessel for something more. And, most importantly, a vessel that can be warped, adaptive, non constrictive, otherworldly, and even completely shattered.  These figures, these vessels, are not limited by time and space and therefore are reflective of consciousness and not restricted by the rules of this reality. This theme of hybridity, dealing with both this reality and breaking away from it to create another realm, also ties into my interest in technology and how quickly these figures can become cyborgs.  These figures are simultaneously real, imagined,  otherworldly, consciousness and digital/technology cyborgs.  I believe that technology has become so integrated into our reality and therefore our consciousness that these figures can't help but be affected by it, because I cannot help but be affected by it.
